Information for Celebrants

Celebrants who would like to become part of The D Word Community and deliver The D Word to schools/community groups in their area, attend a Guidance Session led by Gillian Robertson. (gillian@rememberlove.co.uk  Tel: 07940 484319)

Ideally, this is done in person, but can also be done on-line, and takes up to 3 hours. 

This costs £550 which includes a Guidance Manual, materials, ongoing support and contact with The D Word community, and access to the shared drive where all The D Word resources are saved. 

All Celebrants must hold a Disclosure Certificate, and there will be an annual charge to cover the cost of The D Word Insurance. 

All D Word Celebrants are expected to contribute any resources that they develop/adapt to the shared drive. 

Following this session, Celebrants can make their own contacts and arrange to deliver The D Word to schools and community groups in their local areas. 

Drawing on our own contacts with funeral directors, faith leaders, crematorium staff, The D Word Celebrants arrange visits and/or plan presentations. 

Guidance on charges. 

The initial outlay for the Guidance Session can be easily covered by the first school/community group input. 

Currently, it is expected that Celebrants charge:

  • £30 per hour for planning and preparation (including arranging visits to a funeral parlour, crematorium etc.) This can take some time, especially when planning around school timetables.
  • £45 per hour for delivering The D Word – school/community setting, funeral parlour etc.
  • 45p per mile travel expenses.
  • Booklets costs £9.
  • Costs of printing eg certificates can be added: schools may be willing to print these on site.
  • An additional 10% is charged and paid to The D Word CIC to develop more materials, subsidise groups who are unable to pay the full costs, and contribute to administrative running costs of The D Word.
